On Monday, May 1st, 2023, a horrific multiple-vehicle crash on Interstate 55 in Divernon, Illinois, left six people dead and at least 30 injured. The Illinois State Police reported that the cause of the crash was excessive wind blowing, and dirt from the field by the highway caused zero visibility. The accident involved 30 commercial vehicles, between 40 to 60 passenger vehicles, and two tractor-trailers that caught on fire.
